Fiu in Adriatic

Route plan for 2003

Year 2003
6-20 Sept. Fiu joined the Marco Polo Cup in the Adriatic, Croatia. This was two weeks packed full of fun races, cruising and festivities. To view photos from this event check our Photo Album. The Cup is organized by a C&C Yacht Charter from Croatia as well as by the Mariner Boating, Sydney. As the director of the Mariner Boating, Trevor Joyce said in his brochure for this event: 'TAKE a measure of Medieval Europe and Venice, ADD a dash of ancient Greece, Rome, Ottoman Turkey and a thousand islands, then MIX in six leisurely passage races between Trogir and Dubrovnik, ADD eight relaxing lay days and you have: The MARCO POLO CUP. The Cup has attracted great interest and was a huge success. A number of fun loving and humorous crew member spent two unforgettable weeks of exciting sailing, swimming and snorkelling in the crystal blue water and exploring the cultural highlights of the Adriatic.

Oct. 03

Sailing from Adriatic (Punat) to Gibraltar via Sicily, Sardinia, Balearic Islands, Spain. Weather in Mediterranean at this part of the year can get rough, very rough sometimes, with strong winds from the West! As expected  this part of the Fiu Sailing Adventure was a challenging adventure in terms of sailing and endurance - certainly not meant for the faint-hearted and beginners. We stopped at a number of ports (Barcelona, Casablanca, Tanger)  to ensure that we had plenty of days to relax and 'recharge' or just to hide from storms!!
